Stockingford v Ansley Village

“SPECTATOR” seems confused this week. Two accounts of this game appear, the first refers to 2nd XIs

Stockingford 2nd met Ansley Village, at Ansley, in a league match on Saturday. Ansley made a poor show by only making 25 runs. Everitt bowled splendidly, and took seven wickets for 23 runs. Stockingford managed to win by 11 runs, the top scorer being Curl with 8. Spencer headed the bowling average by taking six wickets for 10 runs, and Brown four wickets for 14 runs.

The score sheet has Spencer 7 wickets and Brown 3 wickets.

and

Stockingford encountered Ansley Village, and nobody on either side reached double figures, although three reached 8. Stockingford won by 36 to 25.

Nuneaton Observer 19-5-1905 adds to the confusion. Batsmen and scores are recorded but no method of dismissal.

In the Stockingford innings it has Oliver not Olner, and gives the score as 46 but the individual scores are as above. In the Ansley innings it has Shelbourne not Shelhorne, Yorke not York, Toone not Toon and omits J Phillips, giving the score for 9 wickets.
